Nash Finch Introduces ‘Core’ Offering for Independents

Nash Finch last week unveiled a new retailer program during its Midwest Food Show that it said provides not just products -- but solutions – for the retailers it serves.

Called its “Store Core” program, it’s designed to help independent retailers save money and capitalize on Nash Finch’s experience gained from more than 100 years in the grocery business.

“Like a store for their store, it gives our customers ready access to all the services they need to run a successful grocery store,” said Danny Lane, Nash Finch Midwest regional v.p. “Store Core is our answer to helping the independent grocery store remain competitive by offering valued-added services at a highly competitive price point.”

Nash Finch’s Store Core adds a wide array of services to its retailer offerings, including store design and engineering, advertising, and marketing.

Included within the Store Core program are:
-- Retail technology: Debit and credit, price optimization, and Web services.
-- Design, engineering, and construction services: “From a single piece of equipment to help with breaking ground on new construction to outfitting an entire store, we can help an independent retailer realize significant savings,” said Lane.
-- Marketing/image center/research: Services in this category include media and advertising offerings, consumer and in-store research, and many other research offerings such as demographics analysis, surveys, customer feedback programs, and site location analysis.

“The whole point of Nash Finch’s Store Core is to give independent retailers one central location where they can access all the knowledge and back office solutions needed to save significant amounts of money and add value to their stores,” said Lane.

Nash Finch serves independent retailers and military commissaries in 31 states, the District of Columbia, Europe, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Azores, and Egypt.  The Company also owns and operates a base of retail stores, primarily supermarkets under the Econofoods, Family Thrift Center, AVANZA, and Sun Mart banners.
