MOM’s Ups Minimum Hourly Pay to $12

MOM’s Organic Market, with 15 locations in the Mid-Atlantic region, is raising its minimum hourly pay to $12. Founder/CEO Scott Nash contends that higher wages lead to increased morale and productivity, as well as making the recruiting and retaining of employees easier.

“This is not an act of charity, but rather an investment,” Nash said. “Without a doubt, our most valuable asset here at MOM’s is our people.” He added that customers prefer stores staffed with tenured and knowledgeable employees, and that long-term employees “propel the company forward by offering great customer service, being a strong part of our culture, and championing MOM’s purpose to protect and restore the environment. Understanding their value is what has contributed to our ongoing success.”

Rockville, Md.-based MOM's operates stores in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
