M&M’s to Introduce Sixth Character in Super Bowl Ad
Mars Chocolate North America will introduce a sixth M&M's character during its Super Bowl XLVI commercial on Feb. 5. Ms. Brown will appear during the 30-second ad that is slated to air during the game's first quarter.
“Now is the time for Ms. Brown to step into the spotlight -- and there’s no bigger spotlight than Super Bowl Sunday,” noted Debra A. Sandler, chief consumer officer at Hackettstown, N.J.-based Mars Chocolate North America.
Ms. Brown decided to come out from behind the scenes after witnessing the success of products such as M&M’s Pretzel Chocolate Candies and the admiration fans have for her fellow characters, according to the company, a division of McLean, Va.-based Mars Inc. She has held the position of chief chocolate officer for 70 years.
Mars plans to unveil the first images of Ms. Brown during special events at The Grove in Los Angeles and New York City’s M&M’s World on Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. ET. Fans can view her debut online.
After the Super Bowl, Ms. Brown will appear on television and in print and digital ads, store displays and promotions, as well as on Facebook and Twitter, according to Mars Chocolate North America.
