Market Street to Offer ‘Best of Texas’ Expo
United Supermarkets, LLC-owned Market Street will hold its Best of Texas Expo July 31 and Aug. 1 at all 10 banner locations in north and west Texas, featuring products and produce from all over the Lone Star State.
“At Market Street, we’re Texas-born and Texas-bred,” said Wes Jackson, chief merchandising officer for Lubbock, Texas-based United. “We’ve always sought out local food items and packaged products to offer our guests, because we want our shelves to be a reflection of our heritage, and the local farmers and manufacturers who work hard to put food on our tables.”
During the event, store “ranch hands” will offer complimentary samples of a variety of meats, special sauces, and locally grown fruits and vegetables. Additionally, Market Street’s sommeliers will host a wine tasting featuring the chain’s recently launched Patio Sangria, made from the “Vineyards of Market Street” and perfected at Lubbock’s own McPherson Cellars Winery.
At the expo, shoppers can expect samplings and products such as freshly baked Potato Rolls and Lonzo Jalapeno Cheese Spread; Texas Gulf Shrimp and Cooked Crawfish farm-raised in Wichita Falls; Fredericksburg’s Opas Smoked Sausage Wraps with Texas Mustard; Market Street Signature Hamburger Sliders; Casa Rica and Mi Pueblo Tortillas, both produced in Plainview; Texas Caviar, BBQ sauces and dressings; and Padrino Tamales.
“This event is the perfect opportunity for families to get together and celebrate our unique culture while sampling the native Texan products they can find at Market Street,” added Jackson.
The Best of Texas Expo is the third in a series of similar events to be hosted by Market Street in the coming months. Others are the Entertaining and Celebration Expo, to be held Nov. 6 and Nov. 7, and the Healthy New You Expo, which will run Jan. 15 and Jan. 16, 2011.
Market Street stores are located the Texas towns of Allen, Amarillo, Colleyville, Coppell, Frisco, Lubbock, McKinney, Plano and Wichita Falls. United operates 50 stores under three distinct formats: United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos United.
