Maine Grocer Appointed AG New England's Chairman

PEMBROKE, N.H. -- The board of directors of Associated Grocers of New England, Inc. here has named Thomas E. Bradbury, president of Bradbury Brothers Quick Stop in Kennebunkport, Maine, to the position of chairman. Bradbury's family has been affiliated with Bradbury Brothers Market in that area since 1944.

Bradbury succeeds Robert E. Heath of Centre Harbor, N.H., who became AG New England's chairman in 1990. Heath remains a member of the board. Bradbury, who has served on the board since 1997, was named vice chairman in August in 2004. Before joining the board, he was a member of AG New England's Retail Advisory Council.

Additionally, Bradbury is executive director of the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust, serves on the advisory board of the University of New England, and is also on the advisory board of the Maine Coast Heritage Trust. He has also been honored for his commitment to land conservation. An author of several historical and children's books, Bradbury was store manager of the Bradbury Brothers Market in Cape Porpoise, Maine from 1975 to 1990, before buying the business with his cousin, Stedman Seavey.

The largest retailer-owned wholesale grocery distribution center in New England, AG New England serves independent retail food stores in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and the upstate New York/Albany area.
