Lorelei Mottese Presented with NGA’s Great American Award
The National Grocers Association (NGA) has presented the Clarence G. Adamy Great American Award to Lorelie Mottese, director of government relations for Wakefern Food Corp. The award is the highest governmental relations honor from NGA and is presented to an individual or company who best exemplifies active and effective participation in governmental relations.
Mottese joined Wakefern in 2000 after a career in the private sector. She has led major legislative campaign, both on the federal and state levels as well as serving as chariwoman of NGA’s Govermental Relations Committee and on the Women Grocers of America board of directors.
"In her 15 years at Wakefern, Lorelei has been a leading advocate for independent grocers," said Peter J. Larkin, president and CEO of NGA. "She is a fierce protector of Wakefern and its members and a stalwart advocate for the supermarket industry."
Wakefern’s President and CEO Joe Sheridan credits her public service and knowledge of government to ensure that the company never has a “blind spot” when it comes to “the complex regulatory environment. She is passionate about protecting our members and our industry,” Sheridan added.
