Lindsey Vonn Joins Dairy-Deli-Bake Speaker Lineup
The International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association has added Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn to the speaker lineup at its Dairy-Deli-Bake Seminar & Expo in Houston.
The Olympic gold medalist and World Cup champion is taking the place of Houston Texans defensive end JJ Watt, who had to cancel do to a mandatory training conflict.
Vonn’s presentation is titled “Never Give Up” and will take place on Tuesday, June 7. The IDDBA Dairy-Deli-Bake Seminar & Expo runs June 5-7 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. A complete show preview appears in PG's May 2016 issue.
Titles won, records set
Vonn is the most successful female alpine skier in the history of the sport and is on her way to becoming the most successful ski racer ever.
Six weeks after she turned 20, Vonn produced her first World Cup victory in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. She has since captured a world-record 76 World Cup wins en route to 20 FIS Alpine World Cup titles, including four overall crystal globes, seven downhill titles and two World Championship titles. In 2016, Vonn broke the all-time Downhill record, claiming the season Downhill title outright, on top of achieving the sport’s Super-G record.
After rehabilitating from two back-to-back knee injuries, Vonn returned to competition in 2014. In 2015 she broke the 35-year-old record of 62 World Cup victories. During her 2014/15 comeback season Vonn won an astounding eight world cup races and two World Cup Titles. Her documentary, “The Climb,” chronicling her recovery, aired on NBC in January 2015.
Last year, Vonn launched the Lindsey Vonn Foundation, a nonprofit with the goal of empowering young girls to grow through experiences that build self-esteem and positive self-image.
Madison, Wis.-based IDDBA is a nonprofit membership organization serving the dairy, deli, bakery, cheese and supermarket foodservice industries.
