Kroger Stops Carrying Church Newspaper
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Kroger Co. has pulled the Southeast Outlook, a newspaper affiliated with Southeast Christian Church, from its stores, according to local reports. The paper was removed from racks after the retailer received complaints from some of its customers.
Officials with the church are reportedly disappointed by Kroger's decision. They say the church paper used to sit beside papers such as LEO, which the church says is pro-gay and carries borderline pornographic ads.
In a statement to the Southeast Outlook editor, a Kroger spokesperson said the company "operates under a fairly strict contract that prohibits the inclusion of political and religious publications on the free racks."
