Kroger Brings Back 'Taste of Italy'

The Kroger Co., for its second year in a row, is dedicating two weeks to the promotion of authentic Italian foods and wines through its Savor World Flavor event, now in its fourth incarnation.

Beginning Sept. 14, Savor World Flavor: Taste of Italy will allow customers to “eat like an Italian” at Kroger stores nationwide, sampling foods sourced from food and wine producers throughout Italy, including dry-cured prosciutto and salami, aged Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, a variety of olives, fresh pasta, 100 percent Sicilian extra-virgin olive oil, tomato sauces, tiramisu, and such wines as Prosecco, Chianti from renowned Tuscan regions, and Pino Grigio from the Trentino-Alto Adige region. A number of the products will be new launches under Kroger’s HemisFares private label – which debuted at last year’s event – including antipasti jars, flavored oils, gelato, and several pastas and pasta sauces.

Additionally, Kroger will provide recipe ideas, BOGO offers and educational Crack the Parm events where a cheese specialist will demonstrate how to crack a Parmigiano Reggiano cheese wheel weighing nearly 80 pounds. The grocer also will host a national Twitter party at 3 p.m. EDT on Sept. 17, which will help customers learn more about Italian cuisine and culture.

Cincinnati-based Kroger operates 2,778 stores under a variety of banners in 35 states and Washington, D.C.
