Knowlan's Opens Festival Foods Unit in Hugo, Minn.

VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. – Representatives of Knowlan's Super Markets, Inc. here cut the ribbon on a new 55,000-square-foot Festival Foods in Hugo, Minn. that anchors a new shopping center, and takes the format "to the next level," officials said.

The Hugo Festival Foods boasts a new Dunn Bros coffee house, with a drive-through window and outdoor terrace. The coffee house serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner from the Festival Grill. A new On the Rocks Wine & Spirits shop is another added convenience, the company said.

"We've taken our grocery stores to the next level with the Hugo location," says Knowlan's president Lauri Youngquist. "This store will have a full-service chef department, a cooking demonstration area, and a large selection of natural and organic foods."

The new Festival Foods also features Taste of Scandinavia bakery items and cakes, many of which -- along with deli items -- can be ordered online for pickup at the store.

During the grand-opening festivities on Thursday, the store held a promotional contest giveaway of Festival Foods gift cards in various denominations, culminating with a grand prizewinner receiving a $1,000 gift card in the fifth week of the promotion.

Other grand-opening promotions that will take place throughout the summer include the Pepsi Kidscasters promotion and Beverly Hills celebrity chef David Lawrence, as well as the Little Debbie NASCAR stock car.

Knowlan's Super Markets owns six Festival Foods stores and two eponymous supermarkets in St. Paul and Minneapolis. Knowlan's has also owned and operated coffee houses under the Dunn Bros franchise since 2002.
