K-VA-T Deploys Cash Office Management Solution
K-VA-T Food Stores has implemented a new cash office management solution in all of its stores in an effort to give the company tighter control and increased security with its currency.
The grocer is using the VeriBalance system from Lenexa, Kan.-based Balance Innovations, which is designed to automate the cash office processes, reduce errors, and eliminate manual tasks. It will also provide the company with tighter control over its currency and the monitoring of its safes. K-VA-T expects the VeriBalance system to reduce the time it takes to perform traditional bookkeeping tasks, freeing up cash office associates for other activities.
K-VA-T is a regional, family-owned supermarket chain that operates 105 stores in Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee under the Food City and Super Dollar banners.
“The most significant benefit that VeriBalance provides is the overall operational improvement, time savings, and consolidation of all cash office procedures,” said Don Mascola, VP, in-store services, for K-VA-T. “By using an automated system, we’ve been able to standardize our processes to comply with K-VA-T corporate guidelines. VeriBalance also provides many intangible cost benefits to our organization.”
By limiting cash counting to select team members, K-VA-T was able to make workflow more efficient and reduce the opportunity for cash loss. VeriBalance has also helped K-VA-T’s loss prevention department to establish an electronic audit trail by moving all cash office activities to a software-driven process.
Abingdon, Va.-based K-VA-T Food Stores operates 105 retail food outlets throughout the tri-state regions of Southeast Kentucky, Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
