Joseph Clayton Named IFIC President/CEO
Joseph Clayton has been appointed president and CEO of the International Food Information Council (IFIC), effective July 11. At that time, Clayton will also become CEO of the IFIC Foundation.
Currently the interim president of the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI), Clayton was previously the institute’s EVP of public affairs. Before joining AFFI, he held leadership roles with Golin International and Widmeyer Communications, the latter of which as CEO.
“After a comprehensive global search, Joe impressed us with his exceptional organizational and strategic communications expertise, his passion for food and nutrition issues, and his strong leadership skills,” noted Roger T. Lawrence, chairman of the board of directors at Washington, D.C.-based IFIC. “Joe brings keen insights into the intersections among research and stakeholder and consumer engagement, which are key to helping advance food conversations consumers trust. He is a leader who can leverage the professionals who serve on the IFIC and IFIC Foundation staff, which will foster better public understanding of the food and nutrition issues that are increasingly central in our daily lives.”
“IFIC’s communications mission has never been more essential than it is in today’s food environment,” noted Clayton
The IFIC aims to effectively communicate science-based information about food safety and nutrition to health and nutrition professionals, government officials, educators, journalists and consumers. The IFIC Foundation is supported primarily by the broad-based food, beverage and agricultural industries.
