Joe Kelley Named Shaw’s/Star Markets VP

Joe Kelley has become VP-marketing and merchandising for the Shaw's and Star Markets division of Albertsons, according to published reports. In his new role, he will head up merchandising and marketing programs for the more than 150 stores operating under those banners across New England.

Kelley succeeds longtime Albertsons employee Paul Gossett, who will now lead the Boise, Idaho-based grocer’s merchandising and marketing efforts in its southern division, encompassing stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Kelley’s most recent role was president of Quincy, Mass.-based Stop & Shop New England, an Ahold company, which he joined in May 2012, resigning nearly three years later. Prior to Stop & Shop, he was chairman, president and CEO of Indianapolis-based Marsh Supermarkets, and before that, EVP for Schenectady, N.Y.-based Price Chopper, which he joined in 2005 as VP-sales, merchandising and marketing. Throughout his career, he has also held leadership roles at Bozzuto's, Adams Hometown Markets in Connecticut, A&P and Purity Supreme.
