IRUG to Hold Mobile Payments Video Conference
The International Retail User Group (IRUG), an association of U.S. and international retailers and solution providers, has launched a video conference series to be added to its EMV/Mobile Payments focus group program.
These WebEx conferences were developed to provide a year-round educational and experience-sharing forum for retailers as requested by the IRUG membership. EMV sponsors, stakeholders and retailers will be presenting the series of video conferencing programs to supplement the EMV/Mobile Payments spring and fall conferences and workshops.
The first video conference is titled "Mobile Convergence at the POS" which will be hosted by ACI Worldwide and is scheduled for Aug. 6.
“We’re pleased to be selected to lead the ‘Mobile Convergence at the POS' session, and to touch on key areas – such as mobile POS, rewards & promotions and payment entry methods – relating to mobile payments at the point of sale,” said Karen Jarnecic, ACI worldwide director, Merchant Alliances. “Using real-world examples from working with numerous retailers will help highlight the efforts taken to tackle their mobile payments challenges.”
Andrew B. Morris, chair of the steering committee, added: “Our EMV/Mobile Payments steering committee continues to enhance the programs that we provide for the IRUG community and the WebEx sessions are part of that effort. Retailers need information to help them make critical decisions about payments technologies like EMV and mobile. And we’re very appreciative of the support that we’ve received from industry stakeholders and our sponsors. They make our programs possible.”
IRUG is owned and operated by the representatives of the over 300 retail companies that make up its membership. The group focuses on advancing the state of the art of retail technology for all aspects of the retail enterprise.
