High-Flying Marketer to Keynote NEW Summit
CHICAGO -- Amy Curtis-McIntyre, former v.p./marketing of JetBlue Airways and the woman responsible for crafting the carrier's innovative and award-winning marketing strategy, will be the keynote speaker at the Annual Leadership Summit hosted by the Network of Executive Women here.
The theme of the sixth annual summit -- set to take place Sept. 11-12 at the Omni Mandalay Hotel in Dallas -- is "Unleash the Leader In You." The summit theme will be explored in action learning sessions and industry leadership panels.
The intensive one-and-a-half day program will also include "plenty of networking opportunities," according to Debbie Wildrick, NEW education chair. "We are living in a world of global competition," Wildrick said. "Diverse new markets and rapid change mean that organizations must work harder, think smarter, and act faster than ever. The 2006 Summit is designed to prepare our members to meet that challenge while addressing issues of diversity and work/life balance."
Attendees gave last year's Summit high marks, rating the event 4.12 on a scale of 1-5. Ninety-seven percent said Summit content met or exceeded expectations; 96.6 percent reported that the Summit was helpful in expanding their personal network. One survey respondent called the Summit "a great opportunity to invest in yourself." Another described it as a "fabulous opportunity to take control of my career."
Summit keynoter Curtis-McIntyre has achieved tremendous results in one of the most difficult and competitive industries in the world. She joined JetBlue at the concept stage and was the key person in the development of the company's hip brand identity, playing a lead role in the carrier's unprecedented growth. For her efforts she was named Advertising Age's "Marketer of the Year" in 2002, beating out BMW of North America, Dell Computer Corp., and General Motors, among others
