Harveys COO Renamed Muscular Dystrophy Association National Board

Tom Robinson, vp and coo of Harveys Supermarkets, has been re-elected to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) board as a national vice president, marking the third year he has served in this position, said Food Lion, which owns the Harvey banner.

Last year, Robinson led his company's team of more than 4,000 members to raise more than $99,000 for MDA. In 11 years, Harveys Supermarkets has raised nearly $1.9 million for MDA by selling shamrocks at registers and through an annual golf tournament.

At Harveys, Robinson is responsible for operations of retail stores and the distribution network as well as pharmacy for Food Lion LLC. Robinson has an almost 25-year tenure at Food Lion.

Harveys is an affiliate of Food Lion LLC, a subsidiary of Brussels-based Delhaize Group. It operates 69 stores in Georgia, Florida and South Carolina.
Other MDA vice presidents include former NFL star Tiki Barber; August Busch IV, Anheuser-Busch president; and Olympic gold medalist Nadia Comaneci.
