Hannaford Bros. Chooses Store Execution Management Solution

SCARBOROUGH, Maine -- Hannaford Bros. Co. continues to sharpen its technology prowess, this time installing a new store execution management solution to streamline workflow, optimize workloads, and drive execution compliance across the enterprise.

The chain has selected Norwood, Mass.-based Reflexis Systems for the upgrade. "Reflexis will help us institutionalize best practices at all of our stores in a controlled and manageable manner," noted Hannaford s.v.p. and c.i.o. Bill Homa in a statement. "We anticipate high-level operational gains."

The Web-based task management system is supposed to reduce the need for e-mails, calls, faxes, and snail mail to store management, by putting store execution tasks and communication within a closed-loop system offering superior visibility and accountability. A user-friendly calendar and control panel interface provide retail executives at every level with the support they need to ensure the smooth running of daily operations, as well as for special promotions and product launches, according to Reflexis. Additionally, tasks and projects are assigned based on roles.

"The Reflexis Store Execution Management System is a natural next step in further leveraging the solid foundation of our existing workforce management systems," added Hannaford director of store systems retail and HR technology Kevin Carleton. "We are confident that our stores will be able to gain time back from administrative tasks and refocus that time on customer-facing activities. We expect the system to have an immediate positive effect in our stores."

Delhaize-owned Hannaford operates 151 supermarkets and food-and-drug combination stores in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts under the Hannaford Supermarket and Hannaford Supermarket and Pharmacy banners. Hannaford employs more than 24,000 associates.
