Goya Foods Promotes Two Senior Managers

SECAUCUS, N.J. - Leading ethnic foods company Goya Foods, Inc. here said yesterday it has promoted two of its senior managers: Peter J. Unanue will assume expanded responsibilities as e.v.p., while Joseph Perez will take on the oversight for purchasing and marketing as s.v.p.

Prior to joining Goya, Peter Unanue honed his skills as a project manager at Merck-Medco Managed Care and at Baxter Healthcare. He joined Goya and was named director of distribution in 1997, and in 2001 was promoted to v.p. of distribution and logistics. Under his leadership, Goya has implemented an automated routing system for customer deliveries at all distribution centers. In his newly expanded role, Unanue will not only continue to oversee all logistical operations for Goya's 14 facilities and distribution centers throughout the U.S., but will play a significant role in the overall management of the company's operations.

Joseph Perez began his career at Goya as an import clerk in 1974, becoming purchasing director in 1983 and v.p. of purchasing in 1993. Within this role, Perez assumed responsibility for all aspects of product development, including quality assurance and inventory control. In 2002 his role was expanded to include oversight of Goya en Espana.

Perez, in the newly created position of s.v.p., will continue his oversight of the purchasing division, Goya's operations in Europe, and will lead marketing, sales, and advertising.

Both executives will work from Goya's offices and facilities in Secaucus, New Jersey.
