Gourmet Food Purveyor Founder Buys Out Partner
NEWARK, N.J. -- Ariane Daguin, co-owner of D'Artagnan, a purveyor of specialty foods that also supplies branded products to supermarkets and specialty stores around the New York metropolitan area, has bought out her partner and co-founder of two decades' standing, George Faison, and will continue to run the business alone.
According to a report in the Newark Star-Ledger, Daguin didn't disclose the cost of the buyout, which occurred under special terms of the original ownership agreement. "George and I founded D'Artagnan on a shared vision and not much money," she said in a statement. "It has been 20 exciting years, and it is hard to imagine D'Artagnan without George, but I, and everyone here, wish him all the best."
Daguin, daughter of Andrè Daguin, chef/owner of Hotel de France in Auch, Gascony, began the business with Faison as the first foie gras purveyor in the United States, her online biography says. Currently D'Artagnan also offers such items as duck, game, and organic poultry.
In the short term, new products will be available at D'Artagnan, including wild boar saucisson, nitrite-free bacon, marinated duck breasts and duck prosciutto.
