‘Got milk?’ Now Stars Hayek, Other Hispanic Celebs

Actress Salma Hayek’s latest National Milk Mustache “got milk?” ad offers a sneak peek of her morning routine. The ads are part of an ongoing campaign, “The Breakfast Project.”

Hayek’s second ad (left) depicts her enjoying breakfast in her pajamas with a glass of milk, while the copy reads: “The perfect start to the break of day. got milk? Nourish every day.” The Mexican-born performer is the first Milk Mustache celebrity to do TV commercials in both English and Spanish.

The Breakfast Project launched earlier this year with the goal of encouraging more Americans to enjoy milk as part of a healthy breakfast at home. More information on The Breakfast Project and the many free turnkey resources for retailers to leverage a breakfast-at-home meal occasion strategy are available online.

Additionally, in tandem with the launch of Hayek’s newest got milk? print ad, the National Hispanic Milk Mustache campaign is debuting the first in an online series of videos featuring some of the initiative’s new and upcoming Latino participants, including Hayek and TV personalities Lili Estefan and Bárbara Bermudo. The ongoing series will consist of 35 short videos posted throughout the year on the Proyecto Desayuno website (Spanish for “Breakfast Project”) in which the celebrities share tips, personal memories, and even touching or funny anecdotes.

The board of the Washington, D.C.-based Milk Processor Education Program (MilkPEP) runs the got milk? campaign, a multifaceted initiative created to educate consumers on milk’s health benefits. MilkPEP is funded by the nation’s milk processors. The tagline “got milk?” was developed for the California Milk Processor Board by San Francisco-based ad agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners and is licensed by the national milk processor and dairy producer groups.
