Golub Price Chopper Promotes Janice Brown to Zone Director

Golub Corp./Price Chopper Supermarkets said Friday that it had promoted Janice Brown to the newly created position of zone director.

In her new role Brown will oversee the operation of stores in Pennsylvania and downstate New York, and will develop and attain budgeted expense and profit figures for the area. She will report directly to regional v.p. Jody Plonski.

An employee of Price Chopper since 1992, Brown gained store management experience at Kroger; Giant Food, LLC; and Wegmans. Her most recent positions at Price Chopper were store manager in Middletown, N.Y. and regional nonperishable merchandiser.

Progressive Grocer named Brown a Rising Star among the Top Women in Grocery for 2008.

Schenectady, N.Y.-based Golub Corp. owns and operates over 100 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. The company employs more than 23,000 associates who collectively own 55 percent of the company’s privately held stock.
