GMDC Adds Workshops to HBC Conference

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Nonfood trade association General Merchandise Distributors Council (GMDC) plans to add workshops to its fall HBC Marketing Conference schedule as part of its commitment to knowledge-sharing through the GMDC Educational Foundation.

This year's conference will be held September 8-11 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Dallas. During the event's Sunday and Monday CCC breaks, six programs are scheduled, offering attendees information on topics dealing with merchandising and in-store operations issues.

The workshop titles planned for this year's conference are:
-- E-training for In-store Pseudoephedrine Product Handlers
-- Look Who's Shopping Now: Reaching the Family Caregiver
-- Who are your shoppers and how do you reach them as channels blur and competition becomes more complex?
-- Medicare Part D: Growth Opportunities and Risks for CPG/Healthcare Manufacturers and Retailers
-- A presentation of the GMDC Educational Foundation Study, Seasonal Best Practices
-- Aisle Mastery: The Art and Science of Winning the Consumer

Conference attendees who desire will have the opportunity to select and participate in up to four 40-minute workshops over the Sunday and Monday schedules. Lunch will be available to workshop participants.

"Following the lead of our advisory boards and membership, we have selected relevant, need-to-know topics that address important issues facing retailers and suppliers today," said Roy White, GMDC v.p. of education. "Each workshop will be presented by a recognized expert on the topic and afford our members another valuable take-away from their conference participation."
