Giant Food to Bring Back Baggers
LANDOVER, Md. - Officials at Giant of Landover, Md. told The Washington Post they will soon bring back baggers to speed up checkouts during peak shopping hours in the chain's 200 stores. The baggers had been phased out 10 years ago.
Giant also says it will replace the current cash-register stations in 90 percent of its stores with what it describes as more customer-friendly versions. In addition, the company will install scanners in the grocery aisles to allow shoppers to check product prices, and will increase the number of stores with self-checkout lanes.
