Giant-Carlisle Repeats Annual School Rewards Program

Giant Food Stores, LLC is again urging shoppers to enroll and designate up to two area schools to earn A+ School Rewards. Signups began Sept. 7 at all participating Giant locations. Since the program first began in 2004, the Ahold USA banner has contributed more than $4.6 million to local schools throughout select markets.

Starting Oct. 5, the chain's shoppers can help local schools earn cash for technology equipment, scholarship programs, library books, summer programs, and field trips, as well as for playgrounds, air conditioning, and everyday expenses. Last year's top A+ School earned over $13,000.

"The A+ School Rewards program is an easy fundraiser, which benefits schools and students across the communities in which we operate," noted Giant s.v.p. of advertising and marketing Erik Keptner.

Customers can enroll in the program by filling out a designation form at their local Giant or by visiting the Web site www.GiantAplus.com. Shoppers can designate as many two schools, and repeat participants must redesignate for every new school year.

After customers designate their schools, A+ School Rewards points accrue with each purchase made using the chain's BonusCard. A running total of points is printed at the bottom of each receipt. Starting in November, school totals can be accessed on the A+ Web site.

Participants should enroll or redesignate as soon as possible so their selected schools can begin earning points when the program kicks off next month, said Giant. Points will be accumulated through March 14, 2009.

Carlisle, Pa.-based Giant operates stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia under the Giant Food Stores, Martin's Food Markets, and FoodSource banners.
