Giant-Carlisle Opens Second Wine Store-in-store

"The opening of the Blue Mountain Wine Shoppe enables us to continue to showcase and promote quality products found right here in Pennsylvania's own backyard," noted Giant Food e.v.p. for sales and merchandising Jeff Martin. "We continue to provide customers with the convenience of purchasing wines from a well-recognized Pennsylvania vintner."
The chain's first in-store wine store, the Allegro Wine Shoppe, opened last month within the Enola, Pa. Giant Food Store.
The Blue Mountain wine list features over 20 wines ranging from dry and semi-dry to sweet and dessert wines. Varietals include Blush, Riesling, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Meritage, Shiraz, Sangria, and Ice Wine. Products cost $10 to $45 per bottle, and the New Tripolo, Pa.-based vineyard, located in the state's fertile Lehigh Valley, offers frequent buyer discounts, in addition to case discounts and monthly specials. Blue Mountain staffers man the wine shop.
Pennsylvania law permits the sale of wine in grocery stores as long as there is a wall separating the wine shop from the rest of the store.
Giant Food Stores, LLC operates stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia under the Giant Food Stores, Martin's Food Markets, and FoodSource banners.
