Giant-Carlisle Boosts Web Site Traffic Four-fold with GSN Software

Giant Food Stores, LLC said yesterday it has upped monthly consumer Web site hits by 400 percent over the past year thanks to its use of Grocery Shopping Network's (GSN) proprietary software.

"Partnering with GSN has allowed us to help our customers maximize their trip to the grocery store by doing their planning from the comfort of their own homes," said the Ahold USA banner's s.v.p. marketing & advertising Erik Keptner in a statement. "A personalized shopping list, online recipes, easy access to weekly specials, and meal-planning solutions take the guesswork out of grocery shopping by offering another convenient way to save time and money."

Keptner added that "consumer adoption continues to exceed expectations."

The software powering Giant Food's site enables a consumer to create a shopping list via personalized offers, the weekly circular, a virtual pantry containing previous purchases, and a searchable database of over 64,000 recipes.

Giant has further broadened shoppers'  options with the April launch of its Shop from Home feature, now available at its Camp Hill, Pa. store. The solution employs software from GSN and HighJump Software, a 3M company, and "advances online grocery planning and fulfillment of customer orders," according to Eden Prairie, Minn.-based HighJump.

Carlisle, Pa.-based Giant Food operates stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia under the Giant Food Stores, Martin's Food Markets, and FoodSource banners.
