Food Lion’s New Website Eases Meal Planning

Food Lion has introduced a new website at www.foodlion.com that aims to make shopping, saving and planning for dinner a snap for shoppers.

"At Food Lion, we work to provide customers with an easy, fresh and affordable shopping experience they can count on every day in our stores," explained Keith Nicks, director of loyalty and digital marketing for the Salisbury, N.C.-based supermarket chain. "We know that technology plays a powerful role in making grocery shopping easy for our customers. That's why we've launched a new foodlion.com – to help simplify the shopping experience for our customers online, while boosting their access to savings and providing new meal ideas."

The new site, created in accordance with customer feedback, provides shoppers with a personalized experience when they log in. Each customer's personalized dashboard includes her savings for the year, along with other relevant information and offers. Additionally, the site is easy to use whether accessed by computer, tablet or phone.

Among the new site’s features is an online Recipe Portal, with customer-generated recipes that can be saved and rated based on shopper experience; a virtual shopping list, which enables customers to plan grocery trips weeks or even months in advance by maintaining an ongoing list, as well as creating new ones for special occasions; the ability to use the weekly flyer to add sale items to a list to take advantage of the best deals; and a more robust MVP Coupon Hub providing access to more than 150 relevant coupons that can be loaded directly to an MVP Savings card or printed at home.

According to Food Lion, further enhancements to the site will debut in the coming months.

A company of Delhaize America, the U.S. division of Brussels-based Delhaize Group, Food Lion has more than 1,100 stores in 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states, and employs more than 63,000 associates.
