Food Lion Touting North Carolina Products in Latest Promo

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Regional supermarket chain Food Lion is showing its support of North Carolina farmers and food companies with the "Got To Be NC Products" promotional campaign, June 7 through 21.

All 490 Food Lion stores in North Carolina are participating in the program. The goal, according to Food Lion, is to help build consumer awareness and loyalty to North Carolina products.

During the two-week period, Food Lion will feature North Carolina products in its sales flyers, while providing in-store samples of many North Carolina products. The stores will call increased attention to North Carolina products with special product displays, shelf tags, and signs.

Also through June 21, Food Lion customers can pick up a free, full-color booklet about North Carolina farmers and food companies. The booklet contains recipes and coupons for North Carolina products.

The effort is part of Food Lion's ongoing partnership with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and its "Goodness Grows in North Carolina" program.

"Agriculture is one of North Carolina's leading industries, generating billions of dollars to the state's economy," said Jim Corby, Food Lion v.p. of produce merchandising, in a statement. "The 'Goodness Grows in North Carolina' label means the product is of the highest quality. Food Lion is proud to partner with North Carolina farmers and food companies."
