Food City Opts for AMTdirect’s Real Estate Management Solution

Food City has selected AMTdirect as the real estate management platform for its more than 250 grocery stores and other locations in the Southeast.

With no system in place for managing its real estate, the retailer undertook an extensive search for a solution that would meet its varied demands. Supermarket chains such as Ahold USA, Big Y Foods Inc. and Harris Teeter already use Cornelius, N.C.-based AMTdirect.

“As we grow, we’re putting a company-wide emphasis on systems and automation,” noted Food City real estate manager Stephen Spangler. “AMTdirect will solve our needs in all phases of our real estate lifecycle.”

The solution will unify Food City’s real estate portfolio and provide a scalable platform that will improve all aspects of the company’s operation, including accounting, reporting, project management and facility management. Further, the combination of AMTdirect’s technology and Professional Services Group promises a faster, error-free implementation.

Based in Abingdon, Va., K-VA-T Food Stores Inc., Food City’s parent company, operates 106 retail food outlets in southeast Kentucky, southwest Virginia and northeast Tennessee.
