First 3 Kroger Pharmacies Go Live with Free Interpreter Service
CINCINNATI – The Kroger Co. has added a language-access interpretation service in three pharmacy locations in the central Ohio cities of Columbus, Dublin, and Galloway.
Known as Martti (My Accessible Real-Time Trusted Interpreter), the service is free to customers and will allow Kroger's pharmacies and their non-English speaking customers to connect to live interpreters in more than 150 languages, including American Sign Language (ASL), Arabic, Japanese, Russian, Somali, and Spanish.
"Kroger is setting the standard in providing high-quality interpretation services to their limited-English proficient customers," stated Michael Guirlinger, c.e.o. of Nevada-based Language Access Network, a pioneer in video language interpretation services.
Using the service, pharmacists at the stores will be able to provide drug counseling and answer customers' questions about their medications in their preferred language during normal pharmacy hours, Guirlinger said.
