EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: U.S. Market Presents Challenges to Mexican Suppliers

Milly Santana of XL Alliance interviews Mauricio Guerra, director of Hispanic market for Phoenix-based Bar-S Foods, about his company’s participation at last month’s Hispanic Retail 360 Summit in La Jolla, Calif.

Guerra, whose company imports product from Mexico to the United States, said the conference was a real “eye-opener” for him and provided insight on what U.S. retailers are looking for from Mexican suppliers. “We tried to replicate what we did in Mexico, in terms of marketing, but that just doesn’t work in the U.S.,” he noted. The conference offered “refreshing” ideas of what other companies are doing in the Hispanic market in the U.S., added Guerra.

The 2011 Hispanic Retail 360 Summit was produced by Stagnito Media and hosted by Convenience Store News and Progressive Grocer. Next year’s Hispanic Retail 360 Summit will be held Aug. 15-17 at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live in Los Angeles.
