EXCLUSIVE: Green Household Products to Roll Out at Meijer

Meijer has become the exclusive U.S. retail carrier of products from ecostore USA, a Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based brand of sustainable household, personal/baby care and pet products. The items, which have never before been sold at retail in the United States, will be available starting this week at all 185 Meijer supercenters across five states.

"Meijer continues to increase its offerings in organic and natural products, and ecostore is an ideal addition for our customers," noted Frank Guglielmi, director of public relations at Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer. "With the company's proven track record of plant-based products, ecostore fits well with Meijer's continued efforts to offer numerous healthy-living solutions for our customers."

The ecostore products offered by Meijer are Laundry Liquid, which is made of 100 percent certified organic eucalyptus oil and plant-based ingredients; Citrus Spray Cleaner, a citrus-based solvent that can be used on almost every household surface; Dishwasher Liquid, which is free of synthetic chemicals, gentle on skin and provides grease-cutting power; Pure Oxygen Whitener, containing oil of citrus, coconut and other plant-based ingredients to brighten and clean baby clothes; and Cream Cleanser, which features all plant-based ingredients, including lemon verbena oil, and can be used in both the kitchen and the bathroom.

Organic gardener and environmental pioneer Malcolm Rands founded the company in 1993 in New Zealand as a mail-order business selling eco-friendly products to fellow organic gardeners. The company's complete line of products, which is also available in the United States through the Internet, also includes bar soap, shampoo and baby products.

"Our company is firmly planted in delivering products with no nasty chemicals that are friendly to the planet and to individuals, and we know many Meijer shoppers will embrace these environmentally-safe products, as well," said Rands.
