EEOC Giving Away Videos to Introduce National Mediation Program

WASHINGTON -- In an effort to educate retailers on its new National Media Program, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) here has produced a free video.

The "10 Reasons to Mediate" video features testimonials from previously reluctant employers about their ongoing positive experiences with the EEOC's program. When a charge of discrimination is filed against a company, mediation usually is an alternative to the traditional investigation process. An early resolution also can avoid litigation down the road, according to the EEOC.

The video, available on compact disc, runs 14 minutes. The EEOC encourages employers to display it at management meetings and in any other type of forums in which it may be useful. To see a trailer previewing the video and for more information about the National Mediation Program, visit http://www.eeoc.gov. To request a copy of the video, send an e-mail to [email protected] or leave a voice message, including your mailing address, at (202) 663-4823.
