D&W Fresh Market Donates 1,100-Plus Pounds of Preferred Angus Beef

D&W Fresh Market is helping keep food on the table for people in need in Grand Rapids, Mich. area with a 1,165-pound Preferred Angus beef donation to Second Harvest Gleaners Food Bank of West Michigan.

The beef donation accompanies the more than 250-pounds of shopper-donated new coats and blankets the Spartan Stores-owned banner recently organized on behalf of needy residents.

From Sept. 29 through Nov. 1, 2008, all D&W Fresh Market stores had donation bins set up to receive new coats and blankets brought in by customers.

Jeanne Norcross, Spartan Stores spokeswoman, commended the local food bank's sophisticated distribution process. "They are experts at what they do day-in and day-out," said Norcross. "This donation was an effort to help keep Gleaners' shelves stocked so they can continue to do the great work that they do. We are thankful for what they do for our community."

D&W Fresh Market, a longtime supporter of Second Harvest Gleaners, routinely provides the food bank with various perishable and nonperishable food products to help nourish the people of western Michigan.
