Diamond Foods Roots for the College Basketball ‘Underdog’

Diamond Foods Inc. is bringing back the “Underdog Bracket” Game to enable fans of college basketball to enjoy Emerald Nuts snacks and the tournament season together. This year, Emerald has introduced innovative online promotions that give fans new ways to show support for their favorite teams and score prizes.

The topsy-turvy Underdog Bracket enables fans to win $10,000 by choosing the long shot that makes it the farthest in the tournament, in addition to hundreds of daily instant-win prizes.

“This is Diamond Foods’ third year to offer the Underdog Bracket, helping fans connect with Emerald Nuts and enhance their game-day parties with delicious, healthy snacks,” said Jeff Ngo, director of marketing for Emerald Nuts at San Francisco-based Diamond. “The Emerald brand essence is about bringing natural energy to consumers, and in the same vein, this integrated campaign was created to bring energy and excitement to one of the most-watched sports events of the year.”

Bracket selection runs March 12-15, and fans are encouraged to visit daily throughout the month for chances to win instant prizes. In addition to the websites, the promotion features both online and print advertising, and in-store marketing in retailers nationwide.
