Demolition Making Way for Sioux Falls' Largest Hy-Vee
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- After the demolition for a 43-year-old Kmart is complete, Hy-Vee will begin building a new 80,000-square-foot replacement supermarket and gas station that is expected to open in the spring of 2007.
The new Hy-Vee store, which will replace a current supermarket located just a few blocks up the street, will be nearly double the size of the store it is replacing, as the West Des Moines, Iowa-based chain's largest Sioux Falls store.
In addition to an expanded departments and a connected liquor store, the new Hy-Vee will feature a Starbucks kiosk, natural foods, and a Chinese restaurant. The pet and baby departments also will be expanded to offer a variety of items not currently sold in many of the older Hy-Vees.
The gas station will have about 12 pumps and a convenience store and is expected to open before the supermarket.
