Coop Nordic Selects NCR for Complete Front-End Solution

DENMARK - Coop Nordic, the largest food retailer in the Nordic region, signed an $11 million agreement with NCR to begin installing NCR RealPOS 80c point-of-sale (POS) terminals and NCR RealScan bar-code scanners in more than 1,000 locations here.

NCR is providing staging, installation, and maintenance services for the solution, which includes NCR peripherals and NCR Retail Systems Manager software, designed to monitor and diagnose POS technology issues remotely.

"We looked at several options for upgrading our POS system and determined NCR presented the best life cycle proposition," said Arne P. Bruun, v.p., Corp. IT, Coop Nordic. "In fact, we will utilize the services of NCR's Proving Lab, which will allow us to evaluate the performance of our proposed solution under a wide range of transaction types and volumes."

Rollout of the solution began in August, with completion planned for December 2005.
