    LAKELAND, Fla. -- Publix Super Markets and its customers and associates have raised almost $115,000 through the six-week holiday-season "Food For All" program. The Food For All fundraiser appeared in all Lakeland-area Publix Super Markets from Nov. 20 to Dec. 31.

    CARLISLE, Pa. -- Giant Food Stores, Tops Markets, and Martin's Food Markets said yesterday are taking part in this year's Produce for Kids (PFK) program, which kicked off yesterday. The annual campaign emphasizes the importance of adding more fruits and vegetables to children's daily diets, in addition to raising funds for local Children's Miracle Network hospitals. This year's program has two new features: a nutritional expert and an interactive healthy kid's club.

    LAKELAND, Fla. -- Publix Super Markets, Inc. here plans to open its seventh Pix convenience store sometime this month in Seminole, Fla. The 160-square-foot unit, which is the tiniest in Publix' diverse Pix portfolio, will sell gasoline just as the other half dozen Pix stores do, spokeswoman Maria Brous told Progressive Grocer.

    LAKELAND, Fla. -- Publix Super Markets here said yesterday that sales for the first quarter of 2006 were approximately $5.5 billion, a 7.2 percent increase from last year.
