Witynski to Replace Retiring Wahlstrom at Shaw’s
A new leader has been tapped to lead Supervalu’s 195-store New England-based Shaw’s division, in the wake of the news that its current president, Larry Wahlstrom, 57, is retiring after 38 years in the drug and food retailing industry. Mike Witynski, 46, group VP for Supervalu’s Our Own Brands private label unit, has been named to succeed Wahlstrom at the West Bridgewater, Mass.-based chain that runs stores under the nameplates of Shaw;s, Shaw’s Osco, and Star Market. Witynski takes the helm Aug. 10. -
Walmart, Mi Pueblo Set to Accept Excellence Awards At Hispanic Retail 360
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and Mi Pueblo Food Centers will receive 2009 Hispanic Retail Excellence Awards at next month’s fifth Hispanic Retail 360 Summit, set to take place Aug. 9 to Aug. 11 in Las Vegas. The world’s largest retailer and the 12-store, northern California-based independent will be feted at the annual trade event for their strong commitment to serving the fast-growing Hispanic community in the United States.
