Chains to Use New Audio Promotion Program

CERRITOS, Calif. -- More than 13,000 stores operated by retailers such as Kroger, Albertsons, Safeway, and Ahold will assimilate a new audio service into their in-store promotions beginning in April. The service, Audio Connection, is being offered via a partnership between retail marketing provider Mass Connections, Inc., based here, and Salt Lake City-based In-Store Broadcasting Network (IBN).

The success behind Audio Connection was created with IBN's Audio-On-Demand technology, which broadcasts a specific product's promotional message over the entire retail store, while Mass Connections' event personnel conducts an in-store event for that product. As customers browse the aisles, they hear the integrated message and are drawn to the promotion location. Early independent research findings indicate that Audio Connection spikes sales as much as 200 percent in a single week, according to Mass Connections.

"Audio Connection attracts consumers to promotional events with a message relative to the product on display. MC's partnership with IBN and this unique use of audio technology for in-store promotions is exclusive to our industry and exemplifies our commitment to provide the very best in marketing services to our CPG's and retailers," said Mass Connections president and c.e.o. Caroline Cotten Nakken in a statement.
