Celeb Chef Paula Deen to be Food City 250 Race Grand Marshall
"We enjoy a wonderful relationship with Ms. Deen's sponsor, Smithfield, and had the privilege of hosting her during our 2006 Food City Food Show in Knoxville," said Steven C. Smith, K-VA-T Food Stores, Inc. d/b/a Food City president and c.e.o. "The response was so overwhelming that the facility literally could not contain the crowd."
Smith said the Deen's husband Michael would be honorary starter.
Deen began her career with a bag lunch and catering service, turned the business into a full-service restaurant, and then went on to publish numerous cookbooks and a magazine, and to host two Food Network cooking shows.
Food City is Bristol Motor Speedway's longest running sponsor and the second longest in NASCAR motorsports.
Headquartered in Abingdon, K-VA-T Food Stores operates 98 retail food outlets under the Food City and Super Dollar Discount banners throughout Southeast Kentucky, Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
