Bruno's Aiming for a New Look with Coming Prototype

Bruno's Supermarkets, LLC will unveil new prototype store designs as well as a new brand in early 2009. "We're in the process of creating our new design," David Gagne, v.p., marketing for Birmingham, Ala.-based Bruno's, told Progressive Grocer Tuesday.

The Southeast grocer will begin rolling out the new store prototypes with three or four store remodels per year, and then two to three new stores in the next few years.

Locations for the new stores have not been finalized, but new store sites will be in major growth markets, according to Kent Moore, Bruno's president and c.e.o.

The grocer said it has chosen Palladeo, a Glendale, Calif.-based company, to handle the design and fabrication for the remake of its Food World and Bruno's stores.

Palladeo's Retail Strategy Group will also be Bruno's marketing agency, and, as Moore put it, would be “instrumental in the turnaround of Bruno's Supermarkets, from design through public relations.”

Bruno's has 65 stores in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle under the Bruno's and Food World banners.
