Broulim’s Display Drives Spectacular Grape Sales
Retail store display contests are a great way to drive in-store traffic and increase category sales. With this in mind, C.H. Robinson and Associated Food Stores recently challenged retailers to create back-to-school themed displays promoting Welch’s grapes.
After comparing before-and-after category sales over three weeks, Associated Food Stores reported an impressive 63 percent increase.
A particularly effective back-to-school display that resonated with shoppers, both adult and children alike, was devised by Broulim’s Fresh Foods, in Rigby, Idaho, which enticed shoppers to “Make it a Grape School Year,” by constructing an interactive school bus display using Welch’s grapes.
The display was built as part of a promotional display contest sponsored by Associated Food Stores and C.H. Robinson, in which retailer members were given a three week promotional price for Welch’s fresh grapes and were challenged to devise a creative way to showcase the category while driving sales.
Employees at Broulim’s in Rigby designed a unique and memorable concept that not only resonated with adult customers by providing a value price and promoting a healthy back-to-school snack option, but was also fun for kids, who got the opportunity to browse a “grape-tastic” bus while shopping with their parents.
About 50 Associated Food Store retail members participated in the Welch’s grape promotion that proved successful in driving store level excitement and increasing category sales.
