Brookshire Grocery Co. Adopts Schools in Annual Program
Employees of Tyler, Texas-based Brookshire Grocery Co. are volunteering in 175 area schools through the grocer’s Adopt-A-School program, the supermarket chain said. It is the latest step in a 20-year effort, in which Brookshire stores adopt schools by making a one-year commitment to provide speakers, sponsor awards, offer store tours, and help with drives and fundraisers.
In the town of Tyler, the grocer’s home base, volunteers are helping at John Tyler High School, Andy Woods, Jones, Orr, Wise and Douglas elementary schools, Stewart Middle School and Rice IB World School. Brookshire Grocery Co. operates more than 150 stores in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
