Brookshire Brothers Accelerates Chain-Wide Roll-out of Pricing Optimization Solution

LUFKIN, Tex. -- Following a successful pilot, Brookshire Brothers, a grocer with more than 70 locations in East Texas and Western Louisiana, is accelerating the chain-wide roll-out of its merchandise pricing and promotion management system.

The system, called PriceStrat from KSS, Florham Park, N.J., was developed to help food retailers understand consumer demand, giving them the ability to model and forecast pricing and promotional decisions. Following the initial roll-out to six categories, Brookshire Bros. achieved consistent improvement in competitive positioning that resulted in volume and profit increases.

"We are extremely pleased with the results achieved in our first phase roll-out of the KSS PriceStrat system," said Kevin Flanagan, v.p. of marketing for Brookshire Bros. "We were able to take key categories and using the KSS PriceStrat optimization and forecasting system, improve sales and profits. The KSS PriceStrat system gives us the ability to evaluate different merchandising decisions before we apply them and once approved, it allows us to generate the prices at the press of a button. This ability to review and process pricing decisions based off actual and projected consumer demand allows us to better understand and serve our customers' needs throughout our stores."

KSS provides pricing intelligence, optimization, and execution solutions to the convenience retail, grocery, chain drug, and petroleum industries. These systems add discipline to the pricing process, help the retailer make better-informed pricing and promotional decisions more efficiently.
