BJ's Wholesale Club Launches Online Auction for Charity
NATICK, Mass. -- Bidding has opened for the 2006 BJ's Charity Championship Online Auction. Participants can bid on such items as autographed sports memorabilia, vacation packages, electronics, diamond jewelry at http://www.bjs.cmarket.com, with all proceeds to benefit BJ's Charitable Foundation, which funds nonprofit organizations aiding children.
"Auctions are a unique and fun way for consumers to bid on exciting merchandise while supporting vitally important causes," said BJ's e.v.p. of merchandising Paul Bass in a statement. "Participants in this auction will be helping the BJ's Charitable Foundation achieve its goal of creating a positive, long-lasting impact on community programs that support children and families."
The online auction, which closes at 8:00 A.M. on Aug. 6, is being held in collaboration with the BJ's Charity Championship presented by Olay, which is part of The Legends Tour, billed as the "Official Legends Tour of the LPGA." This year's tournament will take place Aug. 4 to Aug. 6 at the Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, Mass. Last year the tournament raised over $1 million for charity.
BJ's Wholesale Club currently operates 165 clubs and 88 gas stations in 16 states.
