Big Y Names New C.F.O.

Big Y Foods, Inc. has appointed William D. "Bill" White c.f.o., replacing Herbert D. Dotterer, who retired from the company in July. White's new responsibilities include finance, accounting, real estate, and facilities management for the New England regional grocery chain. He will report to Big Y chairman and c.e.o. Donald H. D'Amour.

The new c.f.o. has worked in finance and real estate for more than 30 years, the chian said, including both wholesale and retail for public and private companies within the food, drug, and home improvement channels. His most recent position was v.p. and c.f.o. at Orscheln Farm and Home, LLC in Moberly, Mo.

White's resume also includes division controller at Denver-based grocery wholesaler division McLane/Western, Inc.; director of financial accounting and director of real estate at Denver-based Kroger banner King Soopers, Inc.; assistant controller at Little Rock, Ark.-based Affiliated Food Stores, Inc.; c.f.o. at Balls Food Stores in Kansas City, Kan.; s.v.p. and c.f.o. at Norfolk, Va.-based Richfood Holdings, Inc./Farm Fresh Supermarkets; and s.v.p. and c.f.o. at Minnetonka, Minn.-based Snyder's Drug Stores, Inc.

White has also been chairman and a member of the planning committee for the Food Marketing Institute's Financial Executives Conference.

Springfield, Mass.-based Big Y, a family-owned and -operated company, has 58 stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts and employs over 9,800 associates.
