Bi-Lo's Boostersplus Supports Range of Causes

Bi-Lo said it is allowing customers use its Bonuscard to support their choice of school, church, or non-profit organization supporting children, education, or hunger relief.

The non-profits enroll in the the Greenville, S.C.-based chain's Boostersplus program, and attract donations by distributing enrollment cards to their supporters, and instructing them to scan the cards one time with their Bonuscard the next time they shop Bi-Lo.

One percent of customer purchases, excluding money orders, gift cards, Western Union, postage stamps and lottery tickets, will be given to the organization or organizations the shopper has chosen.

Customers can also support organizations even if they do not have direct contact with the group, by contacting Bi-Lo, the chain said.

Non-profit groups can also order Bi-Lo gift cards at a 4 percent discount, to resell at face value. The card minimum order is $500 with a $25,000 limit during the program year.
