Beaver Street Fisheries Honored for Aquaculture Practices

Beaver Street Fisheries was recognized by the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) for Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) at the recent Seafood Expo North America (SENA) in Boston, receiving a plaque during a ceremony in the company of more than 1,000 companies from 40-plus nations attending the annual trade show.

“Beaver Street Fisheries has always been a leader in the seafood industry, and we understand that we have a global responsibility to support and sustain the earth and its ecosystems,” the Jacksonville, Fla.-based company said. “As part of our commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing, we work closely with our supply chain partners to embrace strategies to support the ever-growing need for responsible seafood from around the world. We do this by working with standard-setting organizations for aquaculture seafood, such as the Global Aquaculture Alliance, whose practices are recognized internationally as a means for ensuring the aquaculture industry is responsibly meeting the growing demand for seafood produced using Best Aquaculture Practices.”

Based in Portsmouth, N.H., GAA is an international nongovernmental organization devoted to advocacy, education and leadership in responsible aquaculture, with a goal of furthering environmentally responsible aquaculture to meet world food needs.
