Bashas’ Restructures Top Leadership
As part of Bashas’ Family of Stores’ ongoing restructuring efforts and to position the company for rapid growth, the company has named Edward Basha III as president, CEO and chairman of the company.
His father, Eddie Basha, formerly the grocer’s chairman, will become chairman emeritus, and Darl Anderson, who took over as president and CEO in 2009, will become executive advisor to the president and chairman when his contract expires at the end of 2013.
“We’re especially thankful for Darl for his leadership through the restructuring process,” said Ed Basha in a letter to employees. “There’s no doubt that his financial acumen and many talents helped the company successfully navigate through Chapter 11. Without his leadership, it is doubtful we would have emerged.”
Don Ulrich, who joined the board to represent the lender group and unsecured creditors during the reorganization plan, will serve as executive chief operating officer.
Robert Ortiz was promoted to SVP of operations, overseeing all of the company’s banners. He was most recently VP of merchandising and prior to that director of merchandising for Food City.
Jim Vaughn, who recently served as a division president of Albertsons, is joining the company as SVP of procurement and marketing.
“These leadership changes will make us stronger, improve communication, and maximize our synergies in an ever-changing retail grocery environment,” said Basha.
